At the top of Yahoo Messenger click Messenger menu then choose Privacy Options. On the privacy page of preferences make sure to uncheck the box under “Change my status automatically when I am..” that says “Playing a game on the Yahoo! Games web site.”
Go through any other settings on this page you wish to change and then click Apply and OK.
